NABOR details third-quarter listings, sales
The Naples Area Board of Realtors (NABOR) has released third-quarter statistics for home listings and sales in Naples in a new format, reflecting what the organization says is a more accurate and relevant portrait of the local real estate market. "In an effort to assure that the figures are relevant to Naples, we have developed a new reporting format," said Jo Carter, NABOR president. "In this report only sales of homes within the Naples geographic area are being shown, specifically all areas in Collier County excluding Marco Island and other outlying areas. This is a change from previous periods when the sales of all homes sold by members of the Sunshine MLS were reported, regardless of the geographic location of the home." Since previous numbers and the stats provided through the Florida Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors included transactions only by Naples MLS members who sell property all over Southwest Florida, they were not truly representative of Naples, Carter said.

Paine will be spearheading CTMLSs efforts to provide and streamline real estate listing information state-wide. Brokers' plan for regional listings may conflict with data-sharing ...
Despite the fact that a new real estate data-sharing alliance is already operating, a group of Sarasota-area brokers wants to launch a regional multiple-listing service that would also include Charlotte and Manatee counties. The group announced recently that it planned a January meeting to introduce area Realtor associations to its concept. It also hired a nationally known real estate economist, John Tuccillo, as a consultant. A multiple-listing service is a marketing organization in which brokers pool their listings in the expectation of attracting more potential buyers. They share commissions and the expense of operating the MLS. Currently, all the MLSs in Southwest Florida are operated by local Realtors associations on behalf of their members. But according to a statement in which it also announced Tuccillo's hiring, the Sarasota group envisions an MLS owned and operated by a consortium of brokers.
